Looking for some light-hearted interior design inspiration? I just fell in love with this little cafe/diner/hangout, Hally’s in Parsons Green. The look and feel completely embodies California, what a bright, airy, uplifting joy for such a rainy area! It’s such a quirky, fun little bistro. I’m stoked about the mixed media baths, dip-painted chairs, & the curiosities that hop along the shelves. All images found via their beautiful site »
As a web designer + wine lover, I’m SOOoooo loving this newly discovered site of Hanzell Wines. Their story is beautifully curated throughout their site in conversations of the vision, vineyard, & vinting process. You can tell there is a rich, delectable history behind this label with lots of love and happiness for the art of winemaking! From a design perspective, I adore their use of negative space, HTML typography, stunning script logo & gorgeous screen print-styled label. Love this quote from the Director of Winemaking, Michael McNeill :
“To embrace, understand and produce the Hanzell signature style requires great diligence in all facets. As we continually strive to elevate our wine to an even higher level of quality, great care is required in research, study and examination of each and every detail, both past and present.” —Michael McNeil

Happy weekend, y’all! Anyone hitting the shore with a rad attitude like this edgy Pinterest board by Karen Helms? I love her Cali meets Hawaii vibe. And ahhhh, “Beach Love“, words that sound so symphonic right now, as Blaise and I work like mad to get a photo booth complete in time for our client’s wedding on Saturday. Eeeeek! But for all of those who can relax with sand between their toes this weekend, Aloha & cheers… may your two days be the most sublime of all.
Taking a weekend’s break from happy beaches, here’s a list of 5 fall things to do in fabulous California wine country, including Banshee’s new eclectic wine tasting room, Clos Pegase, and A summit estate tour and tasting at Jordan Winery. Found via this article from California Home + Design. Wish I could be there!
Happy weekend, & cheers!
What a crazy weather month! super-super blue and crisp, mixed with overcast gloomy clouds?? not gonna let that foreshadow my new year. I’m just gonna accept January be all sorts of cranky, and forget the awful below 10 degree marathon we had throughout the first two weeks. Even southern California was cold and cloudy… psssssh.
Farewell, January 2013! looking toward February, i’m just thrilled that with every day we grow closer to spring. Boulder’s blooms will be popping up at the end of March and i absolutely can’t wait!
Design, wine, sunshine, California….
Sometimes i think of all the words i should’ve put into this blog’s name, since the title represents things i love dearly. Of course, so many wonderful things had to be left out…dogs, good energy, standing desks, feng shui, laughter, yoga, caffeine, the list could be an entire post… and maybe it will be someday, hmmmmm. But BEACH & PALM TREES were definitely in the running. I love and not-so-love California in many ways, but its crazy shoreline and sublime weather always calls my name in the depth of a land-locked winter. This trip, as i’ve mentioned, is super-special ’cause we’re road trippin’ it with our pups all the way from Colorado. I’m so excited to bask in warmer temps that my heart is all aflutter. We depart tomorrow bright and early! I’d love it if you’d sync up with me on Instagram @designwinesunshine for lots of fun road-trip updates. ‘Til then, please enjoy the california dreamin’ pinboard i’ve tossed together, and these great snaps from the grid above (from top left to bottom right) one, two, three, four.
top’s mine. ; ) Kampai!
