Wine & Dine : Rocky Mountain Cabernet & a Hottub

Rocky Mountain Cabernet : Wine & Dine : Design Wine Sunshine

I have a confession to make.
Even though I live in sunny, extraordinary, gorgeous Colorado, I have yet to embrace winter.
I have made this winter my happiest yet (much due to my awesome keep-me-warm beau & this killer winter-tough Cocoon Jacket from Nau – above), but I still wish it could be summer… forever. Whenever Blaise & friends want to get their snowboarding on, my thoughts always drift to this image of three friends gazing over the Rockies while perfectly warm in a bikini, soaking in a hottub. That’s another idea of my kind of paradise. To paint the picture … I’d be joyfully sipping this Rocky Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon. { I recently received it as a gift and OH MY GOODNESS – phenomenal! } Such rich, bold flavors of blueberry and mocha; fruity yet sultry – I am so in love. Plus, this label is part of Wines for a Cause. For every bottle purchased, this amazing organization will donate $2 to the National Parks Foundation. How could it get better than that? Good karma in a bottle of full-bodied red with an appreciation of the outdoors? Sign me up. With this Cabernet, I’d whip up a vegan version of Fettuccine with Spicy Zucchini-Tomato Sauce, then toss on a festive two-piece and hop right in. Perhaps with a good book, perhaps some chill meditation, whatever calls to me. That’s what the Rockies are all about. They’re my zen masters – the wise mountains & my 10 year old Labrador, of course. Where do you find your zen?
Cheers! Court

Type Study : Dogs as Typefaces

Picture 1

I have loved this poster, found via Swiss-Miss for years now, so I thought it would be a fun little way to start the week for dog and typography lovers alike. I agree with some of the comments to her post, that the Bulldog would be perfect as a Cooper Black, perhaps a Doberman would be better suited to Fraktur? Find this Dogs as Typefaces poster here »

And just for kicks, here’s my Labrador, Jayda, as Rockwell. A happy, sturdy slab serif, who’s strong, perhaps a little chubby, & lovable! …

Which typeface would your dog be?

Faves from 2013…

design-wine-sunshine-13-favorite-moments-of-2013-2

A little entry to reflect on the little things – MAN o MAN – what a wonderful year. It was crazy, we were hustlin’, but every day was sweet in its very own way. A little journey from the top to bottom, we spent our first month of 2013 on a road trip from Colorado to California (it only costs $86 to get to California from Boulder, CO in a Prius)! Emerald, (the greenish-teal version, anyway) was the color of the year and I was SO in love. Blaise flew my best friend Brittany in for my birthday (the best ever). Jayda turned 70! – We threw the dog’s birthday party of the century. We underwent a HUGE home renovation (more on that when we finish). Boulder underwent extreme flooding (not a fave moment, but a huge one none the less). The Confetti Booth was soooo much fun – so many wonderful memories with my favorite man. We went on lots of beautiful Colorado hikes. Auburn had an ammmmmmmazing football season – our back to back miracle plays will forever be with our fans. And I could squeeze in some much needed art time with my fave lap companion, Kitty. Thank you to all my friends, family, blog readers, volunteers, & fellow Auburn fans (war eagle!) who’ve made this such an amazing year. Cheers to a fabulous 2014!
